Cookies and other device identifiers are small data files or technologies, such as pixels or similar tools, that are stored on or accessed through a device when a website is used. These technologies can collect information about the device and browser being used, including an IP address, device or browser type, operating system, language settings, approximate location, pages visited, links clicked, and the date and time of visits. This information helps recognize a device or browser during and across website visits.
Use of Children's Information
Essential Uses for Internal Operations
We may collect and use certain information, including anonymous persistent identifiers, strictly for purposes that are necessary or essential to support the internal operations of our Website or services. The purposes that are necessary to support the internal operations of our Website and services include functions such as content delivery, security, network management, analytics that do not identify a user, and ensuring the proper functioning of features the child actively uses.
Third Party Support for Internal Operations
We may allow trusted third party service providers to collect persistent identifiers solely to support the necessary internal operations of our Website. These providers are contractually prohibited from using such identifiers for any purpose other than delivering our necessary internal services. They may not use persistent identifiers to identify a child, track a child across websites, build behavioral profiles, or serve targeted advertising.
Categories of third party service providers that are collecting anonymous persistent identifiers solely to support our internal operations include:

- Diagnosing technical issues and ensuring the Website is functioning
- Managing network traffic and server load
- Limiting repeated ads and ensuring only contextual advertising is shown

These functions are strictly limited to what is necessary for the Website to operate and do not involve creating behavioral profiles or tracking children across different websites or services. If persistent identifiers are linked to other types of Personal Information or are used for purposes other than those that are necessary, we will ask for verifiable parental consent before its collection and use as described herein.

These functions are strictly limited to what is necessary for the Website to operate and do not involve creating behavioral profiles or tracking children across different websites or services. If persistent identifiers are linked to other types of Personal Information or are used for purposes other than those that are necessary, the persistent identifier will be treated as Personal Information for which we will ask for verifiable parental consent before its collection and use as described herein.
We do not use, or allow our third party providers to use, this information to contact a child, create a profile, or track a child across websites or services. Any third party service providers we use are contractually required to handle these anonymous persistent identifiers only on our behalf and only for internal operations, consistent with COPPA requirements.
When persistent identifiers are used exclusively for internal operations and cannot identify a child, parental consent is not required under COPPA. Our use of persistent anonymous identifiers meets these requirements.
Integral Uses of Information
Children can engage in most activities on the Website without providing Personal Information. However, some features on the Website may require the collection of Personal Information that is integral to the child's direct participation in a specific activity or service. Collection of Personal Information is "integral" only when it is strictly necessary for a core feature of the service, used solely for that specific purpose, and limited to the minimum information required for the child to participate.
Integral Purposes for which Personal information may be used include:
- Creating and managing an account
- Customer support
- Enabling communication features
- Sharing with service providers who support site operations
Consent Requirement
When Personal information is integral to the feature the child has chosen to use, we will provide direct notice to a parent with a clear explanation of the type of information we would like to collect, how we will use it, and whether it will be disclosed to a third party provider. If it will be disclosed, we will identify the identity of the third party provider and provide information on how they will use the information that is disclosed to them. After providing direct notice, we will seek verifiable parental consent as described below before the collection of Personal Information for integral purposes.
Parents may decline consent, and the child will still be able to use portions of the service that rely only on internal operations data.
Third Parties Receiving Children's Personal Information for Integral Purposes
Upon verified parental consent, the third parties listed below receive only the information necessary to perform the specific integral services identified next to their respective names, for which we have engaged them, and are contractually prohibited from using children's Personal Information for any other purpose.
We are not collecting, sharing, or using children's Personal Information for Integral Purposes at this time.
Non-Integral Uses of Information
We may also offer optional features or enhancements that are not necessary for the operation of the Website and are not integral to the child's direct participation in a specific activity or service.
These non-integral purposes may include:
- Enhanced communication features and alerts within a selected service
- Other extra features such as progress reports or trend summaries
Separate Opt-in Consent Requirement
Because these uses involve Personal Information that is not essential or non-integral to the child's experience, we will request separate, explicit parental consent before collecting or using information for these purposes, meaning that verifiable parental consent to collection of Personal Information does not include these purposes and a separate clear opt-in consent will be required before collection or use for these purposes.
Declining consent for non-integral purposes will not affect the child's ability to use the main features of the Website or service.
Third Parties Receiving Children's Personal Information for Non-Integral Purposes
The third parties listed below will receive children's Personal Information only after such opt-in consent is given as described above by a parent and only to the extent necessary to perform the specific non-integral services expressly opted into by the parent and identified next to their respective names, for which we have engaged them by contract. These third parties are contractually prohibited from using such information for any other purpose beyond the agreed upon and authorized services.
We are not collecting, using, or sharing children's Personal Information for Non-Integral Purposes at this time.
Verifiable Parental Consent
Children can engage in most activities on the Website without providing Personal Information. Except for the collection of persistent identifiers to support necessary internal operations as outlined above which do not personally identify a child, before we collect, use, or disclose Personal Information from children, we will require a parent to complete a verifiable parental consent process that uses a FTC-approved verification method that is reasonably calculated, in light of available technology to ensure that the person providing consent is the child's parent or legal guardian unless a limited exception applies as described below. To begin the process, we ask a child user for their parent's email address. Then, we will provide clear and direct notice to the parent at the email address describing the specific types of information we or a third party will collect, the purposes for which the information will be used, and the names of all third parties involved. The next step in the process requires the parent to take an affirmative action—such as providing a signed consent form, verifying a payment method, or completing another FTC approved verification method—to confirm their identity and authorize the collection and use of their child's information. For example, a paid educational course that saves a child's progress across sessions and generates progress reports is an integral service that requires verifiable parental consent. In order to provide this functionality, limited Personal Information must be collected and stored so that the course can function as promised. After providing notice that explains what information is necessary to deliver the course and how it will be used, we obtain verifiable parental consent through completion of the purchase. The purchase transaction and corresponding receipt confirm the parent's authority and awareness of the collection of Personal Information for the limited purpose of tracking their child's progress. To support these features, we may store progress information either directly or through a trusted third-party service provider, such as a cloud hosting or database provider, that acts solely on our behalf. Once parental consent is obtained, we and our service providers may use the information only for the purposes disclosed in the notice and only as permitted under our written agreements with those providers. These third parties are not permitted to use the information for their own purposes. As described above, any non-integral uses of Personal Information require separate, specific verifiable parental consent and opt-in.
Parents may review, revoke, or delete their child's information at any time as described in our Privacy Policies.
Limited exceptions
We may disclose a child's Personal Information in narrow limited situations without consent such as to meet a legal obligation, to protect a child's safety, to comply with school-authorized educational use, or to respond to a child's one time request. In all cases, we will limit disclosure to only what is necessary or allowed as an exception per COPPA Rule.
We will never use, collect, or share children's Personal Information for:
- Behavioral advertising – tracking what videos a child watches to serve ads
- Cross-site tracking – tracking a child across different websites
- Building a profile of a child's preferences for personalized content
- Analyzing children's behavior to improve models, features, or train AI
- Marketing products or services
- Third Parties' use for their own purposes
Retention and Security of Information
We maintain a comprehensive information security program that is designed to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and security of children's Personal Information in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and applicable privacy standards. Our safeguards include administrative, technical, and physical measures that are reasonably designed to protect children's Personal Information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or misuse. These measures include limiting access to Personal Information to authorized personnel and service providers who require such access to perform their contracted functions, using secure systems and encryption where appropriate, regularly reviewing and updating our security practices, and requiring our third party service providers to implement comparable security protections by contract. The Company has designated a responsible individual to oversee children's privacy compliance, including the implementation and ongoing administration of the COPPA program, and conducts regular—at least annual—reviews of its data security practices and those of third-party service providers to confirm that reasonable safeguards remain in place to protect children's personal information including confidentiality and security obligations.
We take commercially reasonable steps to ensure that children's Personal Information is retained only as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected and to meet our legitimate legal and business interests and is securely deleted or anonymized when no longer needed. Retention periods vary depending on the type of information and how it is used. Automatically collected identifiers used solely to support internal operations are deleted or anonymized on a rolling basis, while information related to customer support or communications may be retained for a limited period until the request is resolved. Children's Personal Information collected in regard to an account will be retained while an account is active and deleted within a one-year of determined account closure or inactivity to allow for intermittent use or reactivation.
If we discover we have collected or received Personal Information from a child without parental consent, or in a manner that is inconsistent with legal requirements or this Children's Privacy Policy, we will seek to immediately obtain verifiable parental consent for the collection of the Personal Information or delete the Personal Information.
In the event of a security incident involving children's Personal Information, we will comply with applicable legal notification requirements and, where required, notify parents and relevant authorities.
Additional Privacy Controls
Parents may exercise privacy rights on behalf of their children under this Children's Privacy Policy.
A parent does not have to give consent for the collection their child's Personal Information when asked. There is no penalty for declining consent, we will still allow a child to participate in any features or services that do not require Personal Information. A parent may see what Personal Information has been collected about their child. A parent may ask us to stop collecting Personal Information. A parent may ask us to delete Personal Information.
